A luxurious villa retreat in the sea of vineyards around Yarra Glen, Araluen Lodge B&B has three near-new villas with everything to spoil guests for their stay. I’ve known Araluen for many years, since its beginnings as a very upmarket in-house B&B. It was successful then, but owners Gretha and Tim have decided to offer their guests high-quality self-contained villas with modern style, spaciousness and privacy.
Steels Creek Road is a little-travelled byway set in rolling hills on the fringe of the Yarra Valley and very close to some of the best wineries and winery restaurants. Yarra Glen is just a few kilometres down the road, and foodies note: the town now boasts some well-regarded specialty produce, cafés and restaurants.
Two of the three guest villas are set away from the main B&B lodge, fronting the green valley and backing onto forests. They have balconies perfect for alfresco breakfast, with bifold doors open from the lounge creating a wonderful harmony of modern design and the natural environment. The third villa, closer the the main lodge’s pool and gardens, has recently been rebuilt after the damage of Black Saturday bushfires that brought total devastation to Araluen’s back door.
The villas are absolutely luxurious and have everything needed for short stays in the Valley, including kitchens, kingsize bed, lounge area, widescreen TV, sound system, air-conditioning, ensuite with spa bath and separate shower, and ingredients in the fridge for cooking at guests’ leisure. There are plenty of little touches included by Gretha. Coffee lovers rejoice – an expresso machine and coffee are included!
The king size suites at Araluen continue to be popular too.
A stay at Araluen is perfect for those seeking fine wine and good food in nearby restaurants; only a few minutes from Yarra Glen. Try hot-air ballooning over the Yarra Valley!!!
